Annual 350 mile bike ride from Bear Mountain to Mammoth Lakes in support of the U.S. Adaptive Recreation Center

This is what the parking lot looked like when we arrived at the Adaptive Recreation Center. Conditions appeared less than ideal for the start of a long bike ride.

Things seem to be brightening up after an extended breakfast that prudently delayed the start an hour. The warmth of the glow on our faces belies the still chilly temperature.

Apparently I was too focused on pedaling the first two days… or the scenery was less than photogenic… as I managed to avoid capturing any Kodak moments. This is the view looking west at the Sierra Nevada range from our campsite at Diaz Lake on day three. Fortunately a host of other cameras were busily shuttering away throughout the ride, and the best of these will be loaded on the USARC site at www.usarc.org in the near future.

Here, you see my room and transportation for the event. The view is looking across Diaz Lake and Highway 395 to the Inyo Mountains.

This shot was taken at a rest stop in Independence. The view is looking west across Highway 395 to Dehy Park, which is home for Locomotive #18 - an old narrow-gauge that hauled freight and folks up and down the Owens Valley for years.
